After dark the backstreets of Beyoglu have excellent bars and night-clubs
Nightlife
The best bars and nightclubs are north of the Golden Horn with some excellent night-
spots in the backstreets of Beyoglu. Here are a few recommendations, but
Time Out Istanbul- found at most newstands- has a thorough run-down of the city's
nightlife.
Kaktus, Imam Adnan Sokak No 4 (off Istiklal Caddesi) is a cool French-style bar or for
something more lively try
Cambaz, Haci Ahmet Sokak No 2. (off Kurabiye Sokak)
Bilsak Fifth Floor, Soganci Sokak No 7 (off Siraselviler Caddesi), is worth seeking out
on the top floor of an apartment building. Wonderful view.
Babylon, Seyhbender Sokak No 3, (near the top of the Tünel) is a club that books
western and Turkish live acts. Open Wed-Sat, you will need a ticket if someone big is on.
Laila, party with the Istanbul gliteratti at a huge club-restaurant complex overlooking the
Bosphorus in Kuruçesme. Dress smart if you want to get past the goons on the door.
Concerts are held at venues across the city, including the Haghia Eirene church and
Rumeli Hisari castle. Enquire at a tourist office for details.
