Turkey’s varied climate and topography and its position at the crossroads of major migration routes make it a popular destination for bird watchers. The country has over 450 bird species, from the wetland birds which live in areas like Kuscenneti National Park, south of the Marmaran port of Bandirma, to the endangered Bald Ibis of south-east Anatolia, or the illusive Caspian Snowcock, a large turkey-sized bird which lives high in remote areas of the Taurus and Kackar mountains.
